Harrison Announces Candidacy for Justice of the Peace Precinct 1

Lisa Gent Harrison has announced she will run in the Republican Primary for Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1.  Precinct 1 includes the cities of Kaufman, Oak Ridge, Ola, Post Oak Bend, and Talty. The Primary is set on March 4, 2014.

Mrs. Harrison is the daughter of former Kaufman County Judge Wayne Gent and the wife of former Kaufman County District Attorney Rick Harrison. She has been an attorney in Kaufman County for 25 years.  She is a graduate of South Texas College of Law and Texas Tech University.

Mrs. Harrison was a prosecutor in the Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office from 1989-1999. She is a Past President of the Kaufman County Bar Association and has been in private practice in Kaufman. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Kaufman County Republican Women, the Kaufman Bar Association, Forney High School PTO, and Fellowship Baptist Church. Her sons, Hunter and Spencer, attend Forney High School.

Former Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Eric Williams is currently awaiting trial on Capital Murder charges in the slayings of former Kaufman County DA Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia, as well as former Kaufman County prosecutor Mark Hasse.

Mrs. Harrison feels the voters in Precinct 1 will want an experienced attorney as their judge. “I believe my experience, integrity, and judicial temperament make me the best candidate for the job. I am the only candidate who has been a prosecutor and defense attorney in that court. I know how to stabilize and improve that bench. I hope the voters in Precinct 1 will give me the chance.”
