Rhea Elementary fifth grade student Jeremy Martinez, son of Charles and Susan Martinez, recited the Pledge of Allegiance and gave an update on Rhea Elementary School during the Forney ISD Board of Trustee’s regular monthly board meeting on Monday, Nov. 3, 2008.

Martinez has lived in Forney all his life with his family including his brother, Joshua, who attends Warren Middle School. He is an avid reader and enjoys books that are part of a series and those written by Matt Christopher. Martinez attributes his love for reading to his first grade teacher, Mrs. Stewart. Martinez participates annually in academic meets on such teams as storytelling and number sense and he is a member of the Rhea Elementary School Safety Patrol where he serves his fellow students on a daily basis. He also plans to join the choir since singing and song writing are among his many talents. Outside of school, he loves to play soccer and spend time with his family.

Martinez long term goals with his education are to attend the University of Texas to eventually become an architect. His teachers and administrators describe him as outgoing, witty and hardworking and have no doubt he will achieve much success in his future.
