Accident Leads to DUI Arrest

Early Sunday morning, a 9-1-1 call was recieved about a vehicle that hit a guard rail at Highway 80 and Helms Trail.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. When police and rescue teams arrived at the scene, located at County Road 212 overpass of Highway 80, they discovered thirty-seven year-old Jolinda Melton Rumsey, from Edgewood, in the vehicle.
According to the Police Report, an intoxilixer machine was used to determine Rumsey's blood alchohol level. Rumsey was not hurt, but she was intoxicated enough that she was charged and arrested for driving under the influence.
Driving Under the Influence is a Class “C” misdemeanor punishable by a maximum fine of $500.00. A DUI constitutes a driver who is on drugs or alcohol and their ability to operate a vehicle safely has been impaired |
