The Forney High JV Jackrabbits lost to the Lancaster Tigers at City Bank Stadium last Thursday evening after waiting well over an hour for the guest team to arrive.

Clouds were in the distance but rain was not in the immediate forecast and the coaching staff of Lancaster High made no excuses or apologies to the coaches, players or fans of Forney High after cancelling the 9th grade game altogether, and then being extremely late to the JV game.

Players, cheerleaders, fans and game officials waited, waited and waited some more, before finally seeing the Lancaster team bus arrive.

However, the game was then delayed an additional fifteen minutes while Lancaster players first warmed up, prayed and met briefly with coaches before taking the field to play the game.

With an unhappy Jackrabbit coaching staff and all players thoroughly warmed up, the game finally started and almost immediately the Tigers were penalized for “un-sportsman like conduct”, while the game was still in its first quarter.

Seeming to be pretty evenly matched, the Jackrabbits moved into Tiger territory move than once but each time failed to convert the yardage into a score.

The Tigers also didn’t score in the first quarter but by late in the 2nd quarter had managed to score a touchdown and the extra point conversion, which changed the score to, Tigers 8, Jackrabbits 0.

Totally regrouping at halftime, the Jackrabbits lead by Quarterback Reggie Rideaux decided to come out fighting and within minutes into the third quarter both teams began scoring in a frenzy of drives that were often assisted by fumbles and the assessment of penalties against both teams.

Many Jackrabbit fans took great exception to several controversial penalty calls against the Jackrabbits and loyal fans stood and encouraged the Jackrabbits valiant effort to beat the Tigers all the way until the last seconds of the game.

However, battling all the way to the end would not be enough as the Forney High JV Jackrabbits would ultimately loose to the Lancaster Tigers, 22-20.
